in Hosting

Instead of YouTube or any other video sharing site, I wanted to host my videos on my own site. I tried some scripts that hosts streaming videos like YouTube. But most of the video hosting scripts have requirements similar to shown below

* Linux Server (some old distributions are not supported)
* Apache Web Server
* MySQL 5.x
* PHP 5.x
* GD Library 2 or higher
* FFmpeg (http://ffmpeg.mplayerhq.hu)
* Mplayer + Mencoder (http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/dload.html)
* Flvtool2 (http://inlet-media.de/flvtool2)
* Libogg + Libvorbis (http://www.xiph.org/downloads)
* LAME MP3 Encoder (http://lame.sourceforge.net)
* Zend Optimizer
* .htaccess support (AllowOverride All)
* curl

After unsuccessful trying for two days to install these components to my hosting account, I realized and came to know that, Streaming video is not supported on Godaddy shared hosting plans. Listen from horses mouth at

So my dream to host streaming videos with GoDaddy is shattered now. This post is just to let you know that If you are going to buy a hosting plan and wish to stream your videos then, Godaddy shared hosting is not for you.
